My comic, Alba Ceide's Tall Tale, features a punk version of myself on a mission to help a lost girl navigate the London Underground and find her way back to her teachers. The adventure takes an unexpected turn when the girl loses her bunny toy, leading us into a journey with the underground's unique fauna.
Inspired by my own commutes on the District Line, this semi-autobiographical fold-out comic spans 12 pages in a concertina format. It explores themes of humor and magical realism, showcasing anthropomorphic characters with stylized designs, a vivid color palette, and exaggerated movements and expressions.
Originally published as a 4-page story in the Tall Tales & Short Stories WIP Comic anthology, I adapted the comic pagination to align with the theme's literal meaning. The layout fits the traditional bookbinding of the anthology while allowing for a concertina design that stretches over one meter when unfolded.
A version in Galician language of the stand-alone concertina comic, titled A Fauna Do Metro de Londres, debuted at the Autobán Comic Fair and was exhibited at the Expozines of the Vinetas desde o Atlántico Comic Festival in A Coruna (Spain), 2024. The English stand-alone version premiered at Thought Bubble Comic Festival, Harrogate (UK), 2024.
Additionally, I designed a collection of stickers featuring the characters from the comic, allowing fans to engage with the story in a fun and creative way.
