"A Tese de Margot" (The Thesis of Margot) is a biographical graphic novel with feminist themes and historical context which was published in August 2025 during the Vinetas desde o Atlántico Festival in A Coruña.

This comic chronicles the inspiring journey of Margot Sponer, a German philologist who, in 1926, traveled to Spain to study the Galician language. As Margot immersed herself in the vibrant local culture and established connections with key literary figures, her groundbreaking doctoral thesis positioned her as a pioneer in Galician linguistics and medieval studies.
Margot navigates the rich cultural landscape of the North of Spain while confronting the challenges posed by the rise of Nazism in Germany. This graphic novel highlights the remarkable contributions of a woman whose courage and dedication deserve recognition.

I am responsible for the drawing, coloring, and lettering of this project, while journalist Oscar Losada serves as the writer and editor. Together, we have created a comic that not only showcases Margot's achievements but also aims to reclaim her legacy as an exceptional researcher, particularly in light of the efforts by the Nazi regime to erase her memory.
This graphic novel resonates with themes of identity, resistance, and the enduring impact of one woman's journey.

Presentation of Current Edition
The presentation of the current edition took place at the Vinetas desde o Atlántico Comic Festival in A Coruña. Óscar and I gave a talk on Tuesday, August 12, sponsored by Librería Komic, where we introduced festival visitors to the historical figure of Margot Sponer and discussed our collaborative work on her story.

On the same day, we held a couple of signing sessions at the Komic stand in the Rúa BD. Here are some photos from the presentation, including a few taken from Instagram stories.
